This 1973 Maserati Bora was photographed at the 2011 Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“The Bora (Tipo 117) is a mid-engine, 2-door coupe powered by a dual overhead cam 4719cc (90 degrees) V-8 engine mated to a 5-speed ZF manual transmission,” according to the car owner’s summary at Hillsborough.”

When new, the owner said the Maserati’s top speed was 165 mph. It could go 0-10 in 6.5 seconds.

“The combined steel monocoque chassis and body has a rear tubular steel subframe for the engine and transmission,” the summary states. “It has a fully independent suspension. The body was by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Italdesign fabricated by Officine Padane of Modena.

“The car debuted at the 1971 Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva and was in production from 1971-78.”

The owner said 289 of the 4.7-liter versions were built.

“This is a European model,” he said, “with no side marker lights, the original grill and no smog.”

He said it was shown at the 1973 Paris Auto Salon. It was originally owned by a partner of Tag Heuer McClaren Racing. The owner at the time this photo was taken has shown it at the following concourses: Hillsborough, Palo Alto, Niello and Santa Rosa.
