“E.L. Cord’s innovative namesake, the L-29 Cord, was the world’s first production front-wheel drive automobile,” according to a car display summary provided by The Nethercutt Collection, where these photos were taken.

This 1930 Cord L29 Town Car was manufactured by Auburn Automobile Co. in Auburn, Indiana. Walter Murphy Coachbuilders of Pasadena, Calif., built the coach.

The Cord boasts a 298.6-cubic-inch L-head Lycoming engine. Maximum horsepower for this vintage car is 125. In 1930 dollars, it was listed at an estimated $7,000.

“This beautiful Murphy-built town car, with a long wheel-base, is one of the only three produced and was reportedly first owned by actress Dolores Del Rio,” according to Nethercutt in Sylmar, Calif.
