This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII was displayed at the 2013 Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“Donald Healey teamed up with Austin to produce an affordable sports car capable of 100 mph,” according to the owner’s summary provided at the concours. “The 3000 was its third major series with front disc brakes added and the displacement increased to three litres.

“The 2912cc engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox with an optional Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive available on the top two gears.

“In 1962, in a bow to modernity, a wraparound windshield and revised doors that incorporated wind-up windows and vent wings were added, along with a permanently attached soft-top.

“In 1964, the final BJ-8 series was introduced with a wood fascia and larger 2-diameter SU carburetors enabling the engine to develop 147bhp, giving it a top speed over 120 mph and a 0-60 time of 9.7 seconds.

“This example was completed on June 3, 1965 and shipped to the United States. The current owner {at the time the photo was taken} acquired it in 1989 and began a 10-year restoration.”
