This 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Convertible Phaeton Sedan was photographed at The Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, Calif.

Manufactured by the Auburn Automobile Co. in Auburn, Ind., the car’s coach was built by Central Manufacturing Co. in Connersville, Ind.

With a Lycoming L-head V-8 engine, this beauty’s horsepower topped out at 175 hp. Price when new was $2,645, according to Nethercutt, which provides a vehicle summary for all its vehicles in its museums.

“Gordon Buehrig designed the 1936-37 Cord as a ‘baby’ Duesenberg,” Nethercutt notes. “His revolutionary design influenced automotive designers for decades. No other car in automotive history can claim to be as influential to future designs.”

Nethercutt also said this front-wheel-drive supercharged Cord was “fast and nimble.”
