On the alternative trail to Empire Mill Trail, you can go out to the river and on the way are two old wrecked cars. March's floods cleared out a lot of the vegetation around the cars and perhaps some of the sand.

That area is renown for its Northern mockingbird. One day when I was recorded bird songs and identifying birds, I also saw beautiful blue Western bluebirds.
