It called the car “a wild new Mustang.”

Well, one of these wild children was at the 2022 Downtown Revival Car Show in Carson City.

Ford was as enthusiastic about the Mach 1 as when I saw this beauty at the car show, hosted by Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star. I'm usually a 1967 hard-top Mustang guy, but this Mach 1 was stunning. My smartphone photos do not do the beautiful paint job justice.

“Drive the igniting, power-primed Mach 1,” states the Mustang’s brochure. “Life will never be the same. You can choose from five hot V-8s ~ from two new 351s (one with a two-barrel carb, the other with a four-barrel carb), to the virile 428 4V Cobra Jet Ram-Air with hood air scoops. (Simulated scoop with others.)

“And {the} Mach 1 comes with all kinds of GT-type equipment like dual exhausts with the four larger engines; wide-oval belted sidewall tires on steel wheels; competition shocks, springs and stabilizer bar; foam-padded, vinyl-trimmed high black buckets; racing mirrors left and right; {and} wood-like 3-spoke Rim-Blow steering wheel.”

The sixth-annual Downtown Revival Car Show will be held in Carson City on Saturday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hosted by Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, the awesome car show will be held on Carson Street between Robinson and Fifth streets.

The roll-in will begin at 6 a.m., judging at 10 a.m. and awards at 2 p.m. Pre-registration is $40 (through June 30). Day-of-show registration is $45. The show is rain-or-shine, with no refunds.

If you want your vehicle in this show, it is best to sign up now because registration is limited to first 400.

"Please complete one registration per car," according to an informational Eventbrite post. "One shirt per registration will be included with your registration fee. Additional shirts may be purchased at the show while supplies last."

For more information, phone Jim Hoff at 775-741-0899 or Sharon Hoff at 775-790-0921.

The
Eventbrite website that I've seen the car show advertised on is still taking entries.
It was a banner year in 1969 when the Ford Motor Co. offered six factory performance Mustangs: Boss 302, Boss 429, GT, Mach 1, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500.

Thanks to the popularity of the Mach 1, production of the GT came to an end after 1969, with 5,396 produced versus 72,458 Mach 1s produced, according to ConceptCarz. It wasn't until 1982 that GT became part of the Ford Mustang family.

This beautiful 1969 Ford Mach 1 was photographed at the 2022 Downtown Revival Car Show in Nevada's state capital, Carson City. I'm a 1967 Mustang two-door coupe fan, having driven one for many years. However, this Mach 1 was so scintillating in the sun, I could not ignore what I presume is a restoration. Smartphone photos can do it no justice, especially the unique color.
