Riverview Park CowA cow a ways from the rest of the herd on the trail spur that leads from the trail along Mexican Ditch to the main circle at Riverview Park in Carson City.
The Riverview Park Mexican Ditch trail can be accessed from Carson River Road, or from Buzzys Ranch Road's parklet. From there, you can walk to a bridge that takes you down a spur to the main trail circle at Riverview Park.
I love the view. The trail wraps behind houses on Buzzys Ranch Road and Marsh Road on the west, but on the east, you have an unencumbered view of the valley with its cattle, birds and even coyotes.
I often see cattle on the spur and even have seen coyotes.
Riverview Park HorsesHorses along the Mexican Ditch portion of the upper trail at Riverview Park in Carson City.
You can walk south toward Carson River Road from the parklet. As you approach the bridge, you will see fenced areas and stables where there are animals, including horses.
The Mexican Ditch Trail is kept in excellent shape by city crews. Not a lot of electric bike riders going fast on this part of the trail system, as there often on from Carson River Road to the Riverview Trail and on Riverview itself. The Empire Ranch Trail is also a hotspot for electric bikers out of control. Be careful out there.
