Mexican Dam Floods At Rio Vista Road
Carson City Flood 2023The Carson River at Mexican Dam in March 2023 was near flood stage. The rushing Carson River was just feet from Rio Vista Road.
Mexican Dam, a popular hiking location in Carson City, Nev., flooded in March along Rio Vista Road. Although the water did not go over the road surface the day I was there photographing, it came within feet of the road and flooded downstream.
The slideshow above shows flooding and/or high water in Moffat Open Space, Mexican Dam along Rio Vista Road, Morgan Mill Park flooding, and flooding on the west side of the Carson River as seen from the Ambrose Open Space along Deer Run Road. While the open space was closed, I parked just outside the barrier and took photos.
