This 1940 Ford Deluxe four-door sedan was photographed at the 2010 Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It was manufactured in 1939 and originally sold at R.M. Cuthbert Motors in San Jose, Calif. The original price was $855 in 1940 value. Nearly 92,000 of these Deluxes were manufactured. An estimated 248 remain.
The owner said he did a three-year frame-off restoration by White Post Restorations in White Post, Va.
The car can generate 85 hp with its 221-cubic-inch flathead V-8 engine. It’s a 3-speed manual transmission. It’s the first model year for a column shift. It also features a radio and hot water heater.
It received the Dearborn Award at the 2003 Grand National Meet of the Early Ford V8 Club of America.
